Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Kalea (“the app”), operated by Ipanema Beauty (“we”, “us”). By using Kalea, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

Kalea is a calorie tracking app that helps you log meals, track weight, and monitor nutrition. The app uses AI technology to estimate calories and macronutrients from text descriptions, voice input, and photos. Kalea is available in 15 languages.

2. AI Estimates Disclaimer

Kalea provides estimates, not medical advice. Calorie and macronutrient values generated by AI are approximate and may be inaccurate. Do not rely on Kalea for medical, dietary, or clinical decisions. Always consult a healthcare professional or registered dietitian for personalized nutrition advice.

3. Account

You must create an account to use Kalea. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must be at least 13 years old to use the app. You can delete your account at any time from Settings.

4. Subscriptions & Pricing

Kalea offers free and premium tiers:

• Free: Text, voice, and barcode logging, up to 3 AI photo scans per day, weight and water tracking
• Premium (€9.99/month or €99.99/year): Unlimited AI photo scans, AI meal planning, smart coaching, weekly calorie budget, and goal timeline

Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store (managed in Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions) or Google Play (managed in Play Store > Subscriptions). Prices are displayed in your local currency before purchase. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

5. Free Trial

New users may receive a free trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will begin and you will be charged. Trial eligibility is determined by the Apple App Store or Google Play and may vary.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the app for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to reverse engineer or extract source code
• Upload malicious content or abuse the AI recognition system
• Create multiple accounts to circumvent usage limits
• Resell or redistribute the service

7. Intellectual Property

Kalea, its design, code, and brand are owned by Ipanema Beauty. Your food journal data belongs to you. We claim no ownership over content you create in the app.

8. Availability

We strive to keep Kalea available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may perform maintenance, update features, or modify the service at any time. The offline-first design ensures core logging works without internet.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ipanema Beauty is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of Kalea. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Germany. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Germany, without prejudice to your rights under EU consumer protection law.
